Uniting Our Community Through the Power of Music

Music for Pinellas, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by members of the band Deviate the Plan. Our mission: to bring the community together through music festivals, benefit concerts, educational programs, and advocacy — all to support and uplift local music education initiatives. In 2025 we branched out and now include Rock and Jock Charity as part of fundraising family. With Rock and Jock Charity, you will also see sporting events, such as the Rock and Jock Charity Softball Game; golf tournaments,  etc as part of the Music for Pinellas family as well as the benefit concerts and music festivals like the annual DTP Fest.

Why We Exist

In Pinellas County, many schools, youth centers, and under-resourced communities struggle to maintain strong music and sports programs. As a nonprofit rooted in local passion, we step in to help fill the gap by raising funds, providing performance platforms, and creating pathways for aspiring musicians and young athletes thrive.

Our goals include:

  • Raising funds for school and community music and sports programs through festivals, benefit concerts, sporting events, and donor campaigns

  • Promoting local artists & talent by spotlighting performers from our area

  • Fostering musical education & mentorship, from beginners to advanced students

  • Encouraging young athletes; through mentorship or help with youth sports costs that can be tough on families.

  • Bridging communities through free and affordable concerts and sporting events

Major Events & Impact

DTP Fest

One of our flagship events, DTP Fest is a music festival held annually (e.g., March 29, 2025) with all proceeds benefiting local causes like Seminole Music. musicforpinellas.com Through ticket sales, local sponsorships, vendor support, and grassroots promotion, DTP Fest brings in community members, artists, and donors to celebrate music and give back.

Past & Ongoing Programs

  • Collaborations with local schools and youth centers

  • Performance showcases, open mic nights, community concerts

  • Workshops, masterclasses, and guest artist residencies

  • Fundraising drives to offer instrument scholarships and support for underserved music programs

Over time, our efforts have helped sustain music classes, subsidize instruments, and elevate awareness of the arts in Pinellas. We are now also providing help to youth sports as well.

Community & Notable Local Support

Part of our strength comes from connecting with local luminaries, community leaders, and nonprofit allies. Here are a few figures and organizations we’re proud to align with:

  • Bruce G. Blowers – A singer-songwriter and contemporary Christian musician from St. Petersburg who embodies the musical spirit of our region.

  • Bill Edwards – Through his philanthropy, particularly via the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, he has supported cultural and music programs in the Tampa Bay area.

  • Heralds of Harmony – This acclaimed men’s a cappella chorus actively supports youth outreach, music scholarships, and benefit performances in Pinellas and the Tampa Bay region.

  • The Florida Orchestra – A large-scale regional orchestra that regularly hosts youth concerts and educational outreach in the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg area.

We also collaborate with local arts agencies and nonprofits, including Creative Pinellas, which supports arts grants, workshops, and public arts projects across the county.
